Ian Falconer has a long involvement in water quality issues, particularly safety of drinking water. His research demonstrated human injury from cyanobacterial toxins, and has extended into investigations of endocrine disruptors and pesticides. He is currently a member of the Advisory Group on Chemical Safety of the Department of Health and Aging and the Basin Community Committee of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority. He has a particular interest in the water quality, ecology and resource issues of the Central and Northern Murray-Darling basin.
